About 41st International Battery Seminar & Exhibit 2024

Founded in 1983, the International Battery Seminar & Exhibit has established itself as the premier event showcasing the state of the art of worldwide energy storage technology developments for consumer, automotive, military, and industrial applications. Key thought leaders will assemble to not only provide broad perspectives, but also informed insights into significant advances in materials, product development, manufacturing, and application for all battery systems and enabling technologies. As the longest-running annual battery industry event in the world, this meeting has always been the preferred venue to announce significant developments, new products, and showcase the most advanced battery technology. For example, Sony chose the International Battery Seminar as the platform to first announce its lithium-ion technology in 1991, an accomplishment that has since gone on to change the world. Attendance has more than doubled since joining Cambridge EnerTech in 2015.

Exploring the Al-CO2 Innovation: Insights from the International Battery Seminar.
What did you like best about the event?
I liked the networking and sessions best. I met several vendors who can help my company move forward, and I learned a lot about flow batteries and grid storage in the sessions.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Have more places for folks to sit at lunch. Diversify Session Formats: While traditional presentations are valuable, incorporating more interactive workshops, roundtable discussions, or hands-on demonstrations could enhance engagement and cater to different learning preferences. Increase Diversity and Inclusion: Efforts to ensure diverse representation among speakers, panelists, and attendees can enrich perspectives and foster a more inclusive environment. This could involve actively seeking out underrepresented voices in the field and supporting their participation. Enhance Virtual Offerings: Given the increasing importance of virtual attendance options, organizers could invest in improving the virtual experience for remote participants. Expand Focus on Sustainability: Given the environmental impact of battery technologies, organizers could incorporate more sessions specifically focused on sustainability, recycling, and circular economy approaches within the battery industry.

I had a great time speaking, attending talks, and networking with people, which was very useful for my job in venture capital.
What did you like best about the event?
This is an opportunity for me to catch up with people in person. Running into people reminds you who you haven’t circled back with in a while. It is also, making new connections.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Make the “My Event” section of the app move with the schedule. I.e., it doesn’t default to Weds at 8 am when it’s already Thursday.

Clearly, it is a well-organized event that is well-liked as it attracts an interesting crowd.
What did you like best about the event?
It was well organized. Presentations and talks started and ended on time, so you could jump from one channel to another without missing the start.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I do think a reception-only reception is missing. The receptions in the Expo part are too big, there are too many distractions, and you don't have the opportunity to bump into people as much or to collar people you have heard speaking, etc.

There was excellent traffic at our booth on the first day. Reasonable traffic on the second day. Very dead on the third day.
What did you like best about the event?
The exhibit hall is heavily emphasised as a hub for activity, and ample food is offered.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Eliminate the 3rd exhibit day, which is only a few hours long. Instead, have the exhibit hall open during the evening of the first day rather than just making that first day a " move-in" day for exhibitors.
