About Powering Africa Summit 2024

The 9th Powering Africa Summit 2024 (PAS24) continues under the theme "Capital Flows Underpinning the Energy Transition", focusing squarely on energy project development and infrastructure and the enabling environment. Following the success of the Africa Energy Forum and the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, you will contribute to critical discussions on the impact of reducing debt costs, seeking alternatives to sovereign guarantees, and unlocking the climate finance promised to Africa's energy sector.

Hosted by Power Africa, in the heart of the U.S. capital and the home of the World Bank Group, PAS24 will focus on the critical financial aspects needed to develop Africa's energy sector more effectively, with conversations rooted in reducing the cost of debt and innovative solutions to the sovereign guarantee impasse.

The programme comprises a series of high-level boardrooms, and, for the first time, we will be hosting a Celebration Dinner so that discussions can continue into the evening

I had a great time at the power in Africa summit in Washington because the sessions were dynamic and included discussions on accelerating energy access, navigating the sovereign guarantee, impasse lowering the cost of debt, alternative solutions to sovereign guarantees. The future of IPPS risk allocation trends in energy projects and climate finance.

The summit was not just a summit but a platform for participants who were invested and interested in Africa's energy sector and the discussions around transition. So people came with solutions and discussions on the way forward. It was a platform of like minds meeting to discuss and this was the most salient point of the summit. It was really a huge and high networking platform, especially given the caliber of people or that attended and the organizations.

The quality of the content and the engagement of the session are affected by the seniority of the speakers and delegates.
What did you like best about the event?
The networking opportunities and the quality of the speakers were excellent. All sessions were well-planned and moderated, ensuring meaningful audience engagement.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
They were speaking about Opportunities for law firm leaders. Lawyers should be given the opportunity to share their experiences on projects by participating in some of the sessions, even if they are not sponsors.

The PAS 2024 was not just a summit but an opportunity to discuss Africa's energy sector amid important developments such as the US Inflation Reduction Act, Net Zero World Initiative, etc., pertinent issues that may have far-reaching implications on Africa's energy transition.
What did you like best about the event?
The opening events right before lunch were powerful and insightful. The choice of speakers was spot-on.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Have lunch confirmed for sponsoring organizations that are in the process of side meetings or networking and miss it? Also, the closed-door roundtables need to have at least two participants from each organization attend, not just one.
