devcom is the official game developer event of gamescom and Europe’s biggest game developer community-driven industry conference.

Offering additional content and events throughout the year, devcom constantly emphasizes its core values of diversity, inclusion and sustainability.

Established in 2017, devcom is the official game developer event of gamescom, the world’s largest computer and video games event, and Europe’s annual “must attend” developer’s conference. Originally started as a five-day umbrella framework for a series of events, devcom is now a full-year experience focused around game development, game publishing, networking and community building.

Amazing thoughout the event!
What did you like best about the event?
There are great panels, many opportunities for networking and connection, and space for indie games.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
The lines to scan the badges for stages 2-5 for certain panels were too long and had people miss talks they were interested in.

The best large-scale networking and learning event for game developers.
What did you like best about the event?
There are so many talks and events to attend! It is great to meet so many people here at Cologne.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I would like to see well signposted areas suitable for neurodiverse people to de-stress as there are a lot of us in the industry and it can be overwhelming.

It is an informative, fun, and a great place to learn more about the games industry!
What did you like best about the event?
It was well-organized, clean, and easy to get to. Information sharing and collaboration across the industry happen often at these kinds of events.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
More food vendors during DevCom, please. The food trucks are there for Gamescom, but not really much for Devcom. Some variety would be appreciated.

The DevCom was a well-organized conference, even though it was quite crowded in the Offenbach Hall ... and there were long queues in front of the halls in some places.
What did you like best about the event?
The many and thematically very different lectures were very good. And the protective measures.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
There were too few water dispensers or water refill stations. Queues stretched through the exhibition area. Some sessions were so popular that not all interested viewers could get in. Entry to many panels took far too long. Mostly, only one or two people were responsible for scanning the tickets, especially in the large halls, which were congested. It was far too cold in many rooms, especially in room 9.

A lot of great ideas and game developers!
What did you like best about the event?
A lot of attendees and game developers. Great knowledge sharing. Free water flask and water distribution was an awesome idea!
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Sync with meet to match. More tables and chairs to sit down. More food trucks. Paper agendas.

Good place to meet like-minded game designers.
What did you like best about the event?
The talks I attended were not novel but validating - I am on the right track! Others share my experiences.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I didn't realize until too late that I could schedule meetings through the DevCom app and didn't need to use Meet2Match. Because of that, I think I missed out on meeting other narrative designers.

It is a compact but busy conference spread with plenty of opportunities to network and learn.
What did you like best about the event?
Close proximity to talks, meetings, and break room. Location and timing (around Gamescom and in central EU location).
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
More space that could be used for impromptu meetings that would be better in a more private or quieter setting.

Lots of lovely people know the secrets of the industry.
What did you like best about the event?
The size of it. It was fantastic to see so many people in one place, so many talks. It was great that the big room was divided into four stages. Also, the speakers were cared for so well; it was awesome.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I think the food in the speaker's lounge could be better. But it was fine anyway. :) I'd also like more technical talks, but it's hard to get them, and they are less popular. Also, I couldn't hear people's questions from the audience :<
