FOSSASIA is an all around fantastic event

What did you like best about the event?

FOSSASIA is an excellent experience as an attendee and as a speaker; the event is well-planned, informative, and entertaining on and off the stage.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

The exhibition hall itself feels a little "claustrophobic", an open space with windows would be better.

My FOSSASIA 2023 Experience

What did you like best about the event?

FOSSASIA is a conference with lot of members with varying levels of experience attending the event. You can meet folks who have worked all their years in Database, web or in AI like me. I find the diversity of attendees and their background very interesting.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

- More tasty Singaporean food - More goodies for speakers - Try to have larger sponsors in the coming year. In FOSSASIA 2019, I noticed more sponsors compared to FOSSASIA 2023.

Very enjoyable, meetup with old friends and made new ones !

What did you like best about the event?

Multiple tracks with all kinds of topics. Video streaming is good, but maybe audio requires a bit more production work.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

The web schedule was good, but maybe just the -1h to +2 hours sessions are only required. Make a PDF of the schedule so we can browse it on our phones!

Great Experience

What did you like best about the event?

I got to learn a lot and connect with similar minds; The FOSS Asia event was a truly inspiring experience that brought together individuals from all over the world who share a passion for open-source technology and the power of community collaboration. Throughout the event, we had the opportunity to learn from experts, share our own experiences and insights, and connect with like-minded individuals who are driving innovation and change in the world of technology.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

Learned and Connected. Amit Kumar Elaborate this "I got to learn a lot and connected with a similar mind" "I got to learn a lot and connected with similar minds" typically refers to an experience where an individual has had an opportunity to gain new knowledge, insights or perspectives through interaction with others who share similar interests, goals or values. When someone says that they have "learned a lot," it usually means that they have acquired new knowledge, skills, or information that they didn't know before. This could be through Amit Kumar I mean, add more to that text Sure, I can add more to that text. When someone says that they have "connected with similar minds," it typically means that they have had an opportunity to interact with others who share similar interests, goals or values. This could be through a variety of means, such as attending a networking event, joining a group or organization, or engaging in online forums or communities. By connecting with similar minds, individuals can benefit in several ways. They can expand their professional network, which can lead to new opportunities or collaborations. They can also gain new insights and perspectives by exchanging ideas and learning from others with different experiences or expertise. Furthermore, connecting with similar minds can also provide a sense of community and support. It can be reassuring to know that others share the same passions or struggles and can offer advice, encouragement, or simply a listening ear. Overall, Amit Kumar Long caption idea for the FOSS Asia event "Empowering Open Source Communities: Reflecting on an Inspiring FOSS Asia Event" The FOSS Asia event was a truly inspiring experience that brought together individuals worldwide who share a passion for open-source technology and the power of community collaboration. Throughout the event, we had the opportunity to learn from experts, share our own experiences and insights, and connect with like-minded individuals who are driving innovation and change in the world of technology. One of the most powerful takeaways from the event was the sense of empowerment that comes from working together in open-source communities. By sharing our knowledge and resources, we can create robust solutions that have the potential to transform industries, empower individuals, and create a more equitable world. From the keynote speakers to the workshops and discussions, the FOSS Asia event was a testament to the power of community and the potential of open-source technology. It was a reminder that when we work together, we can achieve amazing things and make a real difference in the world. As we reflect on this incredible event, we are filled with a sense of hope and inspiration for the future of open-source technology and the communities that support it. We are grateful for the connections we made, the knowledge we gained, and the inspiration we received, and we look forward to continuing to work together to build a brighter future for all. Amit Kumar How can organizer improve such events There are several ways in which organizers can improve events like FOSS Asia to make them even more successful and impactful: Attendee Feedback: One of the most important ways to improve an event is to listen to feedback from attendees. Organizers should collect feedback through surveys, focus groups, or other means and use it to identify areas where they can make improvements. This can include things like scheduling, the quality of speakers, or the event format. Diverse Speakers: Organizers should aim to have a diverse range of speakers representing a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This not only provides attendees with a more well-rounded learning experience, but it also helps to ensure that everyone feels included and represented. Networking Opportunities: Attendees value opportunities to connect and network with others in the industry. Organizers should provide ample opportunities for attendees to interact with each other, such as social events, roundtable discussions, or breakout sessions.

Majestic. Great to be back at fossil in person. Great energy, great content, and, most of all, community connect were incredible.

What did you like best about the event?

Content and community connections are the most fantastic part of the fossil. I liked different tracks to choose from.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

We need to have a clicker and speakers display for ease of presentation. Most of the logistics were fine.

It was a great opportunity to learn from and network with fellow engineers.

What did you like best about the event?

The effort put in by the event organizers was very apparent. This was my first time at a technical conference since COVID and it was great to meet fellow engineers in person again. The quality of the talks was excellent, and there were plenty of opportunities to network.

What could the organizers do to improve the event?

Most of the food was pretty rich and heavy. I would have liked some lighter options. Also, at the Friday night party, non-alcoholic beverages ran out rather quickly. A supply of water or a water server would have been excellent.
