About Interaction Week 2023

This conference is a call – a call to rethink decision-making processes that drive the design of technology. Interaction design, together with other fields, faces the role of technology in perpetuating social and environmental injustice.

The inevitable transformations of personal lives and social structures have taken momentum. As hopes of long-term systems change arise, so do doomsday narratives. We invite you to take a stance in the midst of these unstable grounds.

Together, our vibrant community can chart a path for design that dares confront the realities of global warming, xenophobia, war, lack of basic goods, and the rise of poverty to create a more just and inclusive world. Come and take a stance in the midst of these new beginnings!

Vibrating- Good to have this real exchange
What did you like best about the event?
Different kind of talk - covers the field of Interaction Design very well - Plus: Video of Talks are online so quickly.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
No Slack as a communication tool - too much noise // Catering organisation was in the Swiss army: café available at fixed times - ignores the reality of a conference in terms of exchange: people meet, want to talk, and then there is no possibility to sit down comfortably with a coffee/tea. It was also shameful to see how the catering organisation treats employees from above and in the presence of the conference visitors.

My visa was rejected due to inadequate documentation and instructions from the conference committee. Following that, my 'virtual' talk was a disaster. I was not allowed to present life and was told they weren't communicating about it. And the team messed up the sound when I was supposed to answer for Q&A. This was seriously disappointing.
What did you like best about the event?
Some of the talks were quite interesting. Nothing much to say here since I could not attend the talk in person.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Communication channels need to be more fluid, the sound system should have been checked beforehand, and the team needs to do a better job fixing their issues rather than saying 'sorry'. A lot of time and effort has gone through preparing for each session, and it's disappointing and discouraging to go through this, and the team doesn't give a damn about it.

Impressive and international
What did you like best about the event?
The smooth run of the event! All the volunteers and the team did a fantastic job!
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
There were a lot of communication channels, which led to much confusion. Luckily, we could write directly to some volunteers to clarify all questions.

Re-energized for the future
What did you like best about the event?
Great to be back at a conference in person with so many inspiring and stimulating sessions.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Ti.to and Hopin's registration was complicated and miscommunicated. Timing of sessions and schedule adjustments were very frequent.
