About 2023 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robotics and Systems

The Next Generation of Robotics
The 2023 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2023) will be held October 1 – 5, 2023 at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan, USA.

IROS is a large and impactful forum for the international robotics research community to explore the frontier of science and technology in intelligent robots and smart machines, emphasizing future directions and the latest approaches, designs, and outcomes.

The theme of IROS 2023 is “The Next Generation of Robotics,” so the conference aims to particularly highlight the contributions of younger researchers and to help accelerate the future contributions of all those just entering the field. This will be reflected in plenary and keynote talks, workshops, tutorials, forums, competitions, exhibitions, tours, and technical sessions.

Great event!
What did you like best about the event?
The workshop on leg prostheses was my favorite part. It was great to hear from the field's major players and network together.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
More prior communication about food. I am also organizing more small-field specific events, such as dinners.

Great conference.
What did you like best about the event?
It was terrific, especially the farewell reception. The venue was also suitable, but the food court was too crowded, and the lunchtime was pretty short of refreshing.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
But in terms of the sessions, the no-show attendee's presentation should be played with the submitted video.

The conference was really interesting and well organized.
What did you like best about the event?
The poster session was the best part. In this session, we were really able to see the contribution of the papers.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I think the event was generally good. The event can be improved by providing the program of the launches and dinners in advance. Also, improve the app and get the possibility to see the workshops.

Fun and well organized conference!
What did you like best about the event?
The blend of posters, industry exhibits, coffee, and snacks on the lower level was great!
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
There was some confusion with the buses as we were about to leave the venue for the closing reception. That part could have been better organized.

I had a very good time at IROS 2023.
What did you like best about the event?
The program was well organized. Papers could be presented 5+1 min orally and as a poster. There was an interesting set of plenaries and keynotes.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Busses to the farewell reception at the Henry Ford Museum were in short supply. More buses were needed.

Overall, my experience at IROS23 was great because the event was well organized regarding venue, schedule, food, and travel.
What did you like best about the event?
Apart from the great organization of important professional activities, I liked the vegetarian food options offered at all official lunches/dinners and the tour of the Ford Museum.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I think informal meetups and events can be better publicized through official mediums since it was very difficult to find the venues for those.

It was nice
What did you like best about the event?
The organization was a bit messy, but it turned out great in the big picture of things. I enjoyed every minute of the conference.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
The Farewell Reception transport could have been arranged better to save time. It was not fun to wait for 2 hours.

My first research conference.
What did you like best about the event?
The conference hall was really large and pleasant. So it was usually not too crowded and noisy. The program was great, too.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Improve the welcoming ceremony and improve the bus logistics for the farewell ceremony. Also sometimes speakers were not well audible.
