Oh, it was a great event. It was right on youtube. So that was an easy platform to log on. There was a live stream. You could see comments from everybody because the, the chat was live as well and there was also a slack workspace to go with it. So I don't know, it was like a good event. It was good.

The SANS Cloud Security Exchange 2023 was a stimulating convergence of ideas, where the exploration of Zero Trust provided a rich intersection between technology, mathematics, and human behavior.
What did you like best about the event?
The session on Zero Trust caught my attention, particularly the exploration of the journey towards this security model. It's a concept that resonates with the computational universe, where trust is a complex and multifaceted entity. The dialogue between Mark Ryland, the Director of the Office of the CISO for AWS, and Ashish Rajan, a SANS instructor, must have been enlightening. They delved into the practicalities of implementing Zero Trust, a subject that's not only technically fascinating but also deeply connected to the broader evolution of cybersecurity. What I appreciate about this session is the way it transcends the hype and buzz surrounding Zero Trust, focusing instead on the tangible outcomes that can be achieved. The integration of network controls with rich signals, including identity, device, behaviors, and more, to make granular, continuous, adaptive, and sophisticated access control decisions is a remarkable advancement in the field. The questions posed, such as "How do I get started? How do I make continued progress? How do I demonstrate ROI?" are essential and reflect the real-world challenges that organizations face. This blend of theoretical understanding and practical application makes the subject so compelling. In conclusion, the SANS Cloud Security Exchange 2023 seems to have been a stimulating event, fostering a rich dialogue on a subject central to technology and society's future. The exploration of Zero Trust is a testament to the ever-evolving nature of security in the digital age, and I find it both inspiring and intellectually satisfying.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Engaging speakers from various fields, not just cybersecurity, could add depth and breadth to the discussions. Mathematicians, philosophers, and even artists might provide unique insights into the nature of trust and security. Interactive Sessions: While lectures and talks are informative, interactive workshops or hands-on sessions could provide attendees with practical skills and deeper understanding. Simulating real-world scenarios might be particularly enlightening. Community Engagement: Creating opportunities for attendees to network, collaborate, and engage in open dialogue could foster a sense of community. This might include specialized forums, Q&A sessions, or social events encouraging informal interaction. Accessibility and Inclusion: Ensuring that the event is accessible to a diverse audience, both in terms of cost and physical accessibility, could broaden its impact. Offering scholarships or reduced fees for students and underrepresented groups might be a positive step. Post-Event Resources: Providing attendees with access to recordings, slides, and additional materials would allow for continued learning and reflection. A platform for ongoing discussion and collaboration might also extend the life of the event beyond its temporal bounds. Environmental Considerations: In this age of digital transformation, considering the environmental impact of the event, whether virtual or physical, is essential. Sustainable practices and mindful use of resources reflect a commitment to broader societal responsibilities.

Very applicable
What did you like best about the event?
I was impressed by the relevant amount of information that was shared, especially with respect to best practices.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Provide PDFs to accompany talks to allow the attendees to follow along. There can be a lot of disruption when following along, so these would help fill in the gaps.
