"Great networking, idea sharing, and relationship building!"

FUN! Professionally organized, well-ran, and lots of relevant information that I could bring back to my company.

the AAPA Expo was an amazing experience, as always, a little bit chaotic, a little bit overwhelming, but wonderful, amazing, getting to see so many friends. What you think is initially going to be, oh, just your industry network is actually a lot of people who become friends in real life, not just professional life, personal life is what I meant as well. And, it's wonderful to meet them, go to theme parks with them, grow your knowledge, while also growing, personally, a wonderful, amazing learning experience as always.

Vice President and Chief People Officer

at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari

This is Jeff Alexander. I'm the vice president and chief people officer of Holiday World and Splash and Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana. I recently went to IAA Expo 2025 in November and had a wonderful experience. I've been going for a couple of years now, so it's always nice to go back each year and see the people I met previously, continue to build those relationships, as well as meet new people from other parks and other places across the industry in the country. I get to meet new people, build relationships, get to learn from them, pick their brain, get some ideas, some best practices that I can take home to my team, and also share some of ours with them to help, help better each other. I got to attend a lot of learning sessions, a lot of educational sessions, seminars. I got to, learn best practices from other organizations, as well as people from outside the industry that can bring in some valuable insight. I was also a speaker at one of, one of the events. I was on the panel of experts for work-life integration. So I got to share some of my knowledge with, with a couple 100 people that attended. It was very engaging. People gave a lot of great feedback to us that we could also take home to us. overall, it's just a great, great opportunity to exchange information, exchange best practices, keep up to date with the industry, and have a fun time while doing it. I attended the HR symposium. Which went to Discovery Cove. We got to swim with some dolphins and do some fun things there beyond just the educational portion. And I also participated in the IAA Footprints from the Heart 5K walk run that I do every single year in a partnership with Give Kids the World. And it's a, it's a great cause to raise money for, to be able to support and to be able to spend time with other people also interested in that same cause.

What did you like best about the event?
How wonderful and sweet everyone is, people genuinely try to help you out even after the event is over.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Make safety features more prominent. Currently the code of conduct and the knowledge of security is a little buried under a lot of information which leaves vulnerable parties feel alone and lost when they feel like their safety is being compromised on the event floor. Talking about safety does not perpetuate the idea that things could go wrong, it just makes others feel safe. Additionally, please have a lot more vegetarian and vegan-friendly options - especially on the edusession day when the showfloor is closed.
