What I like most about SXSW is its openness - the festival always make everyone feel invited and included with all the possible opportunities and events. It feels like if you're there, you're family, and that is worth its weight in gold. I always run into so many friends and professional acquaintances, and the caliber of talent is always super high. I also feel like everything is well-coordinated, and you've got it down to a science.

    Overall, I found the entire experience this year to be pretty fantastic. It was my 3rd year attending the conference as a speaker, and it took that long to figure out the ins and outs of how to get the most out of South by Southwest when I was there. There are certainly things that I want to try the next year and in subsequent years, like attending some of the movie festivals, but overall, the quality of the programming this year, the ability to access through the app, worked very well.

    It was a super valuable experience. It was also my first experience at South by Southwest. First of all, I now understand why Twitter and Airbnb use South by Southwest to take off. I also learned that like talking to people 90% of the direct to consumer startups today use waiting lists to launch. And at the same time, it was a great opportunity to meet all coworkers coming into town and being originally from Europe was cool to see so many European professional coming to Austin for this event. It really gives you the value of this festival and this conference. And generally, I guess opportunities at South by Southwest are everywhere.

    It was great
    What did you like best about the event?
    The sessions were better this year, and I liked the diversity of subject matter. I found some of the larger sessions to be boring and without focus. The real value is the smaller presentations.
    What could the organizers do to improve the event?
    The app is always a little glitchy, and I think it would be helpful for SXSW to have a primer for new attendees. It took me three visits to figure out how to get the most out of the event.

    I enjoy the diversity of networking and business opportunities at SXSW.
    What did you like best about the event?
    I liked the shuttle, the panels and Austin. For me getting to the Lamar it was easy and the app was good at organizing panels.
    What could the organizers do to improve the event?
    I would like the films to be better; I know there are better movies out there so surprised there are so few. The indie films, in particular, should be better. Also, more badge attendee events around Austin.

    What I like most about SXSW is its openness - the festival always make everyone feel invited and included with all the possible opportunities and events. It feels like if you're there, you're family, and that is worth its weight in gold. I always run into so many friends and professional acquaintances, and the caliber of talent is always super high. I also feel like everything is well-coordinated, and you've got it down to a science.
    What could the organizers do to improve the event?
    Sometimes I feel keynotes are a bit more valuable than conversations, so I could see a focus on that being helpful. For some reason on the app this year it was hard to find the film and television mixers...maybe having a category for that on the app would be helpful. Or maybe there is one already and I missed it somehow. The app is very large and all-encompassing but sometimes it's hard to know where or how to search. It's a great app and VERY helpful but maybe could be refined a bit.

    I love the variety of attendees that come to SXSW from many different industries all over the world. It provides a great opportunity for cross-collaboration and learning outside the scope of my current role and niche.
    What could the organizers do to improve the event?
    More attention and featuring of the interactive event formats such as meetups, mentor sessions, lounges, workshops and facilitated discussions would be great and less focus on keynotes, panels, etc. I would love to see a 50/50 mix of interactive vs panel style formats in the conference. I get way more value out of these types of events but there are relatively fewer of them in my tracks than keynotes and panels.
