Learn about the industry surrounding precision medicine.
What did you like best about the event?
It was helpful to gain an understanding of the complex industry that is developing around precision medicine, see how different industries are employing data science, and what products are on offer.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
As an academic researcher coming from a non-profit, I was disappointed by the lack of content that was not sponsored - the majority of research faculty speakers were selling their company and promoting their financial interests, which they were very open about. Having a track dedicated to research, where none of the speakers have a financial interest, could appeal to those of us conducting research in precision medicine. It would also be attractive to industry partners looking for new ideas or academics to partner with. For the registration cost, I was stunned that there was no coffee and cookies during the breaks. Far less expensive meetings offer that and lunch.

It is a great opportunity to network and connect with old and new faces.
What did you like best about the event?
It was easy to walk around and find other booths or attend talks, with good variety yet standardized tracks.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
It would be nice to make it easier to hear panelists/talks - sitting in the back or standing behind (when the seats were all filled) often made me miss a bit here and there and have to strain to listen (or come extra early to save a good seat), and it seemed like others around me felt the same way.

I appreciated the liquid biopsy panels, especially Dr. Parson's comments. I also appreciated the Foresight Dx showcase and some data/use cases they presented.

A conference with potential.
What did you like best about the event?
Overall, I think this was a decent event. I can't speak to all of the days since I only attended Friday, but I was impressed with the quality and calib er of speakers and panelists who attended. The location in Santa Clara was convenient for the airport.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Although conveniently located close to SJC, the conference center is a bit austere, and there aren't many options for meals within walking distance. I felt that the audience was a bit spread thin between the tracks, and attendance at most of the panels I saw was a bit thin. There were a lot of AV issues with the panel I was on (several microphones didn't work, and the audience could not hear us at various times), and this wasted time. This could definitely be improved in the future.

Over 25 years of experience in Precision Medicine in academia and biotech.
What did you like best about the event?
Common interest in driving precision medicine amongst attendees. People from various silos bring their perspectives.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
Suggest having fewer tracks and long discussions that do not provide new insights. One or two tracks for two days would bring more audience to each talk and less distraction from multiple parallel speakers.

It is a great mix of a conference on the cutting edge of diagnostics and medicine.
What did you like best about the event?
The variety of talks - fireside chats -are ongoing at any moment - with a good mix of companies, academics, and other bodies engaged.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
It is a hard one - but somehow improving the acoustics so that talks are less interrupted by coffee machines or other talks - not sure if the show can be compressed a few meters to allow a bit more distance from stage to sales teams.
Did you have a favourite speaker or session? Please tell us below
I am generally a fan of the Industry Showcase (typically S2) - the short speaker time but commercial focus works well.
