I am a Partner in DWT’s Financial Services Group. My practice spans bank regulation, enforcement, recovery and resolution planning, bankruptcy, and crypto. I counsel banking institutions of all sizes, as well as tech and digital asset companies. I work closely with a variety of trade groups and I co-lead DWT’s crypto and fintech women groups. I am a frequent speaker and writer on digital assets and bankruptcy, and I enjoy promoting thoughtful innovation within a newly emerging regulatory framework. All views are mine. I like working in teams and figuring out practical solutions to hard problems, including where the law is unclear, inconsistent, or incomplete. I think it is important to balance risk and innovation, and to have a clear understanding of existing law, technology, use cases, and data when advising clients and considering regulatory policy. It is also incredibly helpful to understand how Congress, federal agencies, state lawmaking, and global standard setting works. I consult with and provide strategic advice to a wide variety of trade groups, technology companies, Congressional staff, venture capitalists, fintech companies (including start ups), banking institutions of all sizes. I have been able to meet many talented software engineers and product experts; I enjoy educating through speaking and writing, and also gaining new perspectives. During my time as Associate Director with the FDIC, I served as the Division of Complex Institution Supervision and Resolution’s lead regulatory policy expert, focusing on U.S. and global regulatory issues impacting systemically important banking institutions. I engaged regularly with central banking and supervisory authorities. I also worked closely with senior supervisory, legal, and Federal Reserve staff on resolution plan rules, related guidance, and feedback letters, and also supported interagency operational resilience work.
