I am the Chairman of illycaffè, the family company founded in 1933 in Trieste. I strongly believe that a company is an institution, it does not only provide profits but should also generate wellness and prosperity for its community. My commitment is focused on sustainability - especially in the coffee sector and in agriculture - and on supporting made in Italy, particularly to boost Italy's competitiveness. From 2013 to 2019, I have been Chairman of the Altagamma Foundation, whose mission is to successfully nurture the competitive advantage of Italy's business sector, its culture and style, contributing to the country's economic and social growth. Since 2019 I am part of the the World Economic Forum's Community of Chairpersons. Since 2013, I have also been a member of Bank of Italy's Council, the internal body that supervises the Bank's activity. As a supporter of responsible and sustainable economic growth, I am a member of the Reflection Group of LH Forum, the movement for a positive economy created by Jacques Attali and I am also a mentor for the WEF (World Economic Forum). I have written a few books: the most recent one, published in 2018, is titled ''Italia Felix''. Before that I curated the publication of ''Altagamma: Strategie per l'Italia'' (Altagamma: Strategies for Italy), in collaboration with Marco Fortis. In 2015 I published ''Il Sogno del Caffè'' (The Coffee Dream).
