Bio

I’ve built and led two great digital ventures, created two admired brands, and pioneered new business models for media. I came to digital media in its earliest days, and as editor in chief took Slate to record audiences and profitability, and developed its podcast business. From 2014-2020, I was CEO of the startup Atlas Obscura, successfully raising capital from VCs and strategics, turning Atlas Obscura into a beloved brand, and pivoting its business into trips and experiences. I also nurture supportive, high-performing company cultures. In October 2020, I launched CIty Cast, a network of daily local news podcasts.
