As the Chief Data Scientist and Executive Director of ''InnovationX'' at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), my team at HHS headquarters advances evidence-based policymaking, data-driven innovation, and public-private partnerships. Prior to joining HHS, I worked in the White House for three years across two Administrations. I served as a Policy Advisor to the U.S. Chief Technology Advisor (CTO) in the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP, 2015 - 2017) and as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB, 2017 - 2018). KEY CAREER HIGHLIGHTS * Served as the White House Open Data lead. In OSTP (2015 - 2017) and OMB (2017 - 2018) led or co-led data-driven initiatives: Open Data (Data.gov), Open Government (open.USA.gov), My Data (Green Button and Blue Button), and digital innovation for suicide prevention, mental health, invisible illness, and disaster response. * Grew the Federal Open Data movement from 1K to 2.1M implementers in three years by promoting agency leaders, drafting legislation, and aligning support to pass the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policy Making Act of 2018. * Authored and co-authored over 80 non-referred government reports, book chapters, blogs, and peer-reviewed articles. * Presented at over 135 conferences and scientific meetings on four continents (Asia, Europe, Africa, North America). * Founded $25M public-private partnerships and cross-sector collaborations, including the HHS LymeX Innovation Accelerator. * Established and lead the HHS InnovationX team to advance data-driven innovation, human-centered design, and collaborative partnerships for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH).
