Bio

I am a seasoned Game Software Engineer and Game Designer, have been making computer games professionally since 1992 (and unprofessionally since about 1981). I consider myself a generalist, but my areas of greatest technical experience include game engine architecture, game logic, simulations, and designer-facing tools. I began my career in at LookingGlass Studios, where I was a core contributor to LookingGlass' iconic titles, such as Thief and System Shock. In the 2000's, I served as the CTO of Electrified Games, a small company where I could function in an executive role while still contributing code and game design. I am always looking for opportunities to use my skills to contribute to the success of creative, ambitious projects. To that end, I am currently working at Riot Games as the Gameplay Technology Lead on an unannounced project. I also look for opportunities to lecture and teach game design in industry and academic settings. I teach a Game Design Workshop at the Game Developer's Conference every year, and have been a lecturer and guest instructor at a number of venues, including Columbia, Northwestern, NYU, UPenn, Penn State, UT Austin, Valve Software and Disney.
