If you’ve traveled outside the U.S., you are already familiar with my field. Although I never anticipated my skills as a chemist would be put to use protecting the identities of American citizens, designing passports, or serving as a subject matter expert tasked with driving the global conversation on document security, it’s an adventure I’m glad to be on. As a program leader and technical expert in secure document design and global interoperability, I’ve spent the past 10+ years leading large-scale projects and initiatives that improve the security of everyday people as well as the U.S. border. Specifically, my background and CSCIP/G certification have given me a wealth of experience in developing and deploying both physical and digital products including biometrics that change the way we prevent threat in a digitally driven ever-changing world. One important lesson I gained as a Six Sigma-trained leader is that managing change and re-engineering processes involves a high degree of emotional intelligence. Many of the largest projects I’ve led involve cross-functional internal teams as well as a diversity of global stakeholders. For me, building consensus and working closely to build positive work relationships are central to achieving large-scale projects on time. Highlights include: ► Provided key interagency leadership in the development of the Next Generation Passport. ► Collaborated closely with federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations, and various international agencies while initiating and achieving large-scale process improvements on schedule. ► Represented the U.S. at industry events including the Intergraf Security Printers Conference while serving as a SME in secure document design and manufacturing. Bringing people together to innovate the next generation of identity products has been deeply satisfying work. When technology changes so quickly there are always new challenges to address.
