Staff Engineer - SaaS - Technical Leadership - Aligning teams/software to increase productivity, champion for UX-first design and API spec-first development, designing scalable/secure/resilient SaaS architectures - Devops - Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, Zookeeper. Programmatically building, managing, scaling, destroying infra. - Software Development - Building microservices in Golang, Java, Python, and Nodejs using REST, GRPC, and Kafka event-driven communications - Service Architecture - Shaping the way that we build scalable and reliable systems, and providing platform foundations for service communication, authN/authZ, feature flags, dynamic configs, rate limits/quotas, API design, etc. across all of Engineering. I’m a Staff Engineer at Confluent, which sets your data in motion. I joined as part of the ''tiger team'' to build and launch Confluent Cloud, the leading Kafka- and Confluent-as-a-Service solution. As the company grows, I help identify new critical areas and bootstrap teams/solutions to address them (cross-cloud/multi-k8s orchestration, testing and CI/CD, service foundations, CLI, API). Previously, I was a Software/DevOps Engineer at Signal Digital, an ad tech startup that helped change the online data and identity model. I also spent a couple years leading the DevOps function at PEAK6, a financial firm that embodies entrepreneurship and a value-driven investment philosophy with businesses ranging from prop trading to gift card exchanges and dating sites. During college, I ran a technology incubator for sustainable building technologies, Drexel Smart House. My participation in this startup-like nonprofit exposed me to a diverse variety of fields, including business operations, real estate/architecture, ubiquitous computing, corporate strategy, STEM pedagogy, engineering and scientific research, and enterprise sales/fundraising. Both my bachelor and master degrees were completed at Drexel University. My undergraduate studies concentrated on digital signal processing and telecommunications, while my graduate studies specialized in controls, robotics, and intelligent systems. While in school, I spent two years as a research assistant at a small defense contractor focusing on intelligent agent security, wireless network simulation for agent frameworks, and multicast security. Prior to this, I developed an ad-hoc routing protocol for delay and disruption predisposed MANETs.
